DD WRT -- advantages?

trying to decide if it's even worth looking into upgrading firmware - i've got an asus wl500g-premium , and would probably go with the OLEG firmware rather than DDWRT - but from what I can tell thier all basically the same, wrt is just more common

but one thing I still can find is a good list of what features it supports over the standard firmware.

anyone care to let me in on the secret?? I'm just not quite getting the point yet.
