Please excuse me if this isn't the right forum to post this in but I'm not sure and a newbie.

Can anyone tell me how to fix this? I believe it's tied to my NVIDIA Firewall software but I don't know for sure.

Thanks
Cowboy

1. Open the registry and go to ?HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{<CLSID in the event message>} to find out friendly name of this component. In my case, this is "Machine Debug Manager? (CLSID: 0C0A3666-30C9-11D0-8F20-00805F2CD064).
2. Go to Component Services via Start -> Control Panel -> Administrative Tools -> Components Services. Expand the Component Services branch then expand ?Computers?, ?My Computer?, and ?DCOM Config?. Right-click on "Machine Debug Manager" (or whatever your CLSID represents) and choose Properties. Click on the Security tab and under ?Launch and Activation Permissions? select ?Use Default?. Click OK, close the Component Services window. The error should disappear now.

When I go to here: HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{BC866CF2-5486-41F7-B46B-9AA49CF3EBB1}

I see this: NvAppFilterSvr Class

When I go to the DCOM Config .. I don't see it there?

Am I missing something?

Thanks

To be honest, I wouldn't really worry about it. DCOM errors are pretty frequent. I think everyone with an Audigy card has had them at some point.

Are the errors actively causing issues within your system?

You could try turning your nvidia firewall off (there should be an icon for the firewall somewhere if you installed the nForce unified driver), then rebooting and seeing if the DCOM error still comes back.

But I wouldn't lose any sleep over it. :)

Yeah .. I know but for some reason I have this passion about having no error's in the event viewer.

I don't have that sound card you mention and will try turning off the firewall after I get the new router installed and working.

Thanks Allot

DCOM was just another unneeded iidea that added more MS bloat. For some reason, I haven't had any DCOM errors on this in stall, but I believe I did on all previous. You might as well learn to live with it.

Turned off the nvidia firewall and it's back? Wonder what would happen if I turn off the DCOM service?

You can disable DCOM with no adverse effects, but it most likely won't stop the error, has never stopped one of mine.

is "LOCAL SERVICE" user included in the LAUNCH AND ACTIVATION PERMISSIONS?
if not try addiding it with Local Launch and Local Activation permission.
