DCHP on a Linksys Router

I have a Linksys BEFSR41 router running DHCP for my little network. My main comp is my Shuttle. I have port forwarding set up on my router so I can run an FTP server, web server, etc from the shuttle. This works fine if I statically assign an IP to the shuttle and forward to that IP.

Unfortunately, I need to take my shuttle with me a lot so I have to constantly have to change whether I get my IP dynamically or statically. I know it's possible for a DCHP server to reserve an IP for a specific MAC address. If the DHCP server gave me the same IP every time based on my MAC, I could leave the shuttle to dynamically get its IP. I looked around in my router, but I couldn't find any options for this. Is this possible or is this only available on better routers than my little $40 router? Thanks.

I recently graduated from that very Linksys to a D-Link DI-624. I did notice the option you're looking for on the D-Link, but the I don't think the Linksys supports that feature. Make sure you have the latest firmware for it though in case the feature was added recently.

Most of the D-Link routers do support locking a MAC address to a specific IP address, and I find it very handy. I also couldn't find this in the last Linksys I looked at. :)

Upgraded to the latest firmware and there still isn't the option. It looks like I'll be waiting for a good deal on a D-Link router in the future. =) Thanks guys
