See some of the Smithsonian stuff if you've never been. As for restaurants I usually only head into the city for steaks and the like so I can give finer dinning recommendations, but I haven't been to many of the more normal restaurants in the city.

Batman's pretty good, though I've heard a lot of people recommend Green Lantern too

Had a girlfriend who lived there for a little bit. She used to go shopping in Georgetown a lot. Quite upscale. Lots of little shops and cafes. There's also a six flags somewhere northwest of DC.

Of course there's the usual museums. The Udvar-Hazy centre of the Smithsonian Air & Space Museum has both the Space Shuttle Discovery and the Enola Gay. It's at Dulles.

The Cherry Blossom Festival is also coming up IIRC.

Headed to DC this weekend. Any ideas?
Places to eat, places to go, etc.

Places to eat:

Matchbox (Chinatown)
Old Ebbit Grill (Near Whitehouse)
Zengo (Chinatown)
La Tasca (Chinatown)
Zaytinya (near chinatown)
Brasserie Beck (K st)

Places to go:

Spy museum
FDR and Lincoln memorials (my favorite)
Natural history museum
Air and Space museum
National Portrait Gallery
Arlington Cemetary (out of DC proper but worth a look if you have time)
Mount Vernon (outside DC . . . worth a look)
If cherry blossoms are out, they are a must do. I doubt they are because it has been freezing ass cold down there. At least by DC standards.

Let me know if you need/want more ideas. I'm a DC native though I now live in NH.

Have fun.

The natural history museum & air & space museums are pretty sweet.

Restaurants that I enjoyed:

Rosa Mexicano on 7th
J&G Steakhouse near the whitehouse
Good Stuff Eatery (casual, think Five Guys) near the capital building
-or-
Just go to Georgetown, walk down M street and pick a random spot.

If you like late night entertainment -- there is a massage parlour on Pennsylvania Avenue where for the price of one after midnight you can entertain 3....

are there multiple locatons?

was on a corner. was not multi level at least i think.

maybe i stayed at a different hotel than the 4 seasons or i do not remeber the geography of dc that well. think it was on a sloping street. the slope went down towards the river i think.

what about the giant beer hall type place?

As mentioned above, the Smithsonian is a must see. By the way, there's more than one (Natural history, Air & Space, etc). So pick one that sounds interesting and head there.

Eat at Rasika if you're able, absolutely amazing food. It's generally recognized as the #1 Indian restaurant in the U.S. and on almost any "top 20/50/100 restaurants in America" list you might choose, and it's reasonably priced.

This. I would stay away from "American food" DC has some of the best foreign food in this country. I go to DC a lot and rarely ever eat at an American restaurant. Korean BBQ is among my favorites. There is a beer garden with a pork shank that is to die for. Probably my favorite meal ever. Basically have to eat there every time I go. Can't remember the location but it is near a bunch of bars including one that has a bunch of old nintendos to play.

Russia House which is an old Russian Embassy is cool if you like Vodka. Their pickled Vodka is by far the best Vodka I have ever tasted. Tried to replicate at home but have yet to come close to the taste.

ceiba is an awesome restaurant. been there a couple times and love it. i ate at bodega a few weekends ago in georgetown and i would NOT recommend it. definitely not worth the price, there are much better tapas places than that.

i might actually go there this weekend now that you got me thinking about it. the ribeye with chimichurri and fried onions on top of it is the 2nd best meal i've ever had, outside of the beef wellington at ramsay's steak in vegas.

you really have to try some of the street food. there are potential vendors all over the place. the library steps are especially packed during the day. they should be around 24 7 all day every day around dc.

Thunder burger is only one location. You might be thinking of Five Guys, which originated ner DC (in Alexandria) and also has locations all over DC.

There are several giant beer halls in DC, including RFD (regional food and drink) and Biergarten Haus. Both are ok, but to be honest I would skip them and head to Rustico in alexandria/crystal city. That place has HUGE beer selection and truly awesome food.

This is a VERY good recommendation. Rasika is fantastic.
