so yesterday was DC's primary day.
one of the positions up for grabs was US Senator. 1st thought was DC has a US Senator?!?
in the 2 decades living in VA, i never heard of a DC Senator.

Apparently DC has 2 shadow Senators and a shadow Representative.
they're powerless and not recognized by Congress.
in 2014, they were essentially unpaid lobbyists elected to push for D.C. statehood. (no idea if they're paid today.)

DC's Delegate (currently Eleanor Holmes Norton) is diff from the shadow Representative.
she has more power in that she's recognized by Congress and actually sits/votes on a House committee.
but is denied a vote on full bills (and denied virtually all business on the House floor when Republicans are in charge).

Something tells me the Surge at Lafayette Square and buzzing by DoD choppers will be fanning the flames of DC Statehood.

Why do you think the DC license plate has Taxation Without Representation on them.
