Thanks for the travel tip, zaph. 🙂
That sounds a lot like Hot Springs, Arkansas. I appreciate any and all travel advice (tips) for I will be checking this thread (and the others) each night I can gain access to the web.
Did I mention I installed AOL on my notebook? Ugh 🙁
Taking advantage of a FREE 45 day trial because they do have the most POP sites around the country. :Q
I have already committed myself to reformatting the hard drive when I return to "clean" it up.Ha LOL![]()
Another Poof sighting :Q

Wow Greg. Your post triggered out of lurkdom. 😛 Hope you all have a great trip. That's some beautiful country over there and you seem to have it timed for when the Perseid Meteor Showers are due. Have been in Colorado myself around the same time and it was fantastic! Only thing is that this year, there's supposed to be a full moon during the peak, but you may be able to catch quite a show just a few days before.
Day 1
We have driven around 700 miles and are spending the night a little west of St. Louis.
Late this afternoon my notebook quit working. :-(
This happened as we were approaching St. Louis. There is no way I could go days, much less weeks, without access to the web. Not just for browsing, mind you, but to take care of business. The trip has almost ended before it has gotten started.
I pulled into a Sams Wholesale Club and tried one of their lcd monitors and as I suspected the lcd screen on the notebook has crapped out. This happened once before during the 1st year of ownership and Sager replaced it. But even it they could repair / replace it again at a reasonable price that wouldn?t get me out of my current jam.
So ? I bought a 15? NEC Lcd Monitor. I would have just bought a new notebook but there would be no way to install some of my necessary programs on a new laptop with the program disks sitting back in Biloxi. :|
Carrying all of the stuff into the motel room has me feeling like I?m back in the 70s when I traveled cross-country with the entire trunk of my car loaded with an Apple //e, Monitor, Modem, Printer and Paper so I could continue to trade the stock and commodity markets. I was a real hi-tech red-neck back then. Ha LOL
Tomorrow we start traveling due West towards Denver. I?ll try to write more tomorrow night if possible. 😉
If someone would copy/paste this update to the AT Forums (maybe put it in my ?Smoke is on the Road? thread) I?d appreciate it. I?m using AOL while on the road so I have in effect banned myself. :Q 😛 😀
Thanks 🙂
