DC auto power adaptor for laptop pc?

Ok I have a DC auto power adaptor for my laptop to plug it into the cigarette lighter and power the laptop while in the car. Problem is I haven't tried it yet and don't know if I should the output of the power adaptor is 19Volts by 3Amps and hte input on laptop is 18.5Volts by 2.7Amps.

Are these specs close enough that it would power the laptop fine without causing harm to it?

Your laptop (Compaq?) should be able to handle it. You might want to put a voltmeter to the adapter and see how much over 19V it is putting out. The laptop "should" be able to handle a 10% variance in the input power.
