DC and Instructions

Might be obvious buuuuuuuut.....

Does the standard BOINC SETI@home client take advantage of advanced CPU instructions?

If it doesn't, are there optimized clients that folks use that do support SIMD/SSE etc. instructions?

If the std client supports all the extensions, is their any advantage to the optimised clients?

The std-client supports many extensions - not all. The optimizations are for different processors and the clients are (IIRC) better optimized/compiled than the std-client.

I would recommend crunching some WUs without the Optimized App first so that you can compare which works best and by how much.

It might have been awhile since anyone has done this.

Everyone here would like to know your results!
