Subject: dbx / email transfers

spent much time to search folders for the MS program to open dbx files , no luck
, what is it's name , ? location ? on a win 2000 set up.
to transfer a record of MS OE file folders ( and contents ) from one slave HD
to my current Master hard drive - and into current Outlook Express files , ...I
can import the folder , ex." inbox.dbx" but this duplicates the existing current
one. In the case of a personally created folder "correspondence" success is had
in transfering the folder shaell name BUT there are no messages records within
it upon opening.. Both accounts are/were OE 6 , but a dbx file is a dbx file - NO
?
Another scenario, where you want to open such a folder as " correspondence" when
it is not in an active Outlook Express account . Where the folder is a stored folder
among many from and older mail record storage You click on it to get the dreaded
"Open With " box . ( so much for user friendly design and auto exe programs. It
is as if command line protocol is a hard habit to break ) OPEN WITH box frequently
lacks the correct program in many applications and there is little identifier in
the properties for identifying what opens it . In the case of above "correspondences"
it is a MS flag iconed system file , and a dbx file I have come to learn but - there
is no " dbx program" I can find to open these . ALSO incorrect choice of program
to open causes sytem to adopt the icon identifier of any wrong progrm choice you
try to use to open them - A universal "OPEN WITH " pain inducing flaw.
to recap 1. mail records ( folders of email) will "import " or copy paste
is more correct into existing active emailOutlook Express flolders BUT THE CONTENT
MESSAGES DO NOT REMAIN INCLUDED
2. in general what dbx reader program is there AVAILABLE to simply open a email
folder of messages. Of course whebn the individual selections of mail messages appear
with the Envelope (white ) icon they seem to auto open . BUT when the FOLDERS are
what you have , theres more to it ?
3. I purchased the share ware "mail Navigator" program - seemingly the only available
I could find - But this ( has a trial free version) losses the file structure of
my records , essentially eliminating the discreet individual folders ie, "correspondences"
to leave you with the content messages alone - but at least that is better than no
access at all. Surely this a common situation in record keeping and transfer of
email files from back ups etc and computer crash recover- I have had little luck
in discovering the way to manage these files in my search attempts - to use only
the provided tools within the MS Outllook \w2k programs. Seeking tutorials, people
, articles or perhaps direct answers to these situations
