I'm going to flog a PC and would like to avoid the average Joe from being able to use say, Recuva or recover my files, to retrieve my data.
Having used this free easy software before because i lost some files, I know simply formatting isn't enough. Call me paranoid!
I've just started a Dban quick pass, which is 1 pass of 0's I believe.
Will this 1 pass of 0's be enough to fool the free data recovery software people can download, such as those mentioned above?
I thought the DOD method etc might take a long time and be overkill for my purposes. Obviously people with time and money etc can always recover drives, but I'm talking about a PC user with a little above average knowledge and nothing special.
