Hi

I was trying out a complete wipe with DoD-short on a 20GB HDD and it took about 9:20hours to complete. However when I plugged the wiped HDD into another computer as a secondary drive and used WinHex to inspect its contents, the data within is all zeros instead of random data. Why is this so?

I know with the "random" setting it zeroes out the drive on the last pass. Maybe it does with DoD-short as well?

Yes, I asked Darik and he said other than the Canadian method, all other methods have a final zeroization pass.
