I just want something cheap right now. I have analog camcorder and eventually I'll switch to digital. Do you guys have any recommendations on cheap video capture card that won't break the bank. I'm looking at USB for the convience.

I know a guy who got a dazzle dv80 for christmas and he is quite happy with it...it hardly drops any frames when capturing video the only thing I think was a problem was that it doesn't have video output on it so there is no way to output to a video cassette or anything...also he tried it on a p2 350 and it lost quite a few frames while capturing but when he tried it on a cel 850 it worked like a charm
hope this helps

No way. DONT do USB. I cant stress this enough. I tried the USB route and hated it. No way every ever ever ever ever again!

Just say no to USB anything for video capture until USB 2.0 capture devices come out.

I had 30% frame rate drops, and that was recording at the lowest resolution (like 120x68 or something).

Get a PCI capture card. I got a ATI TV Wonder VE and love it. <1% drops at highest capture 352x240. After Divx and mp3 compression 1 hour runs around 150mb I think.

Stay clear of any usb video capture device is my opinion. I tried 2 that we had at work (InVideo and something else) and they both sucked. USB just isnt fast enough.

Without experience with capture cards, I would agree to stay away from USB capture.
I too am concidering the ATI TV Wonder, and yes, far as I know it does capture from "video in" (cam, vcr,..).
I've been reading up on it, and most say "nice price, great card (when it works). :(
Most people that said that were using W2K or Xp, I plan on using XP, hope it works for me.

update: checked the card at ATI and does not seem to have "video out" in case that was something you wanted.
