Dazzle MovieStar Software Problem

Recently we upgraded our computer that does the video editing to XP from win2k. Why they did this i have no clue as I was against it since win2k was running great. I installed all of the XP patches for MovieStar and I updated the drivers for the PCI card. My problem is that I can not create/edit any videos in a MPEG2 format. Either the program stops responding or the editing cuts off early when I try a MPEG2. All of the other file formats work without a problem. Unfortunately, detail is very important and my boss says the standard for this project is MPEG2. We are on a tight budget here and are not looking for a new hardware/software solution unless totally necessary. Also I've been told that they don't want to reinstall win2k on the machine. Has anyone encountered similar problems with the MovieStar software and XP.

I could be wrong but you probably just don't have the MPEG2 codec installed. Are you sure that MPEG2 came with MovieStar. MPEG2 is a proprietary codec, it's normally installed with a DVD player ect... At one time or another on the win2k system someone installed the mpeg2 codec. try to see what it was and just install it on XP.

The installation software came with a dvd player and mpeg2 codecs that were installed with it. Any other suggestions?
