"Daylight Exacerbates Warming"

Letter to the Editor

You may have noticed that March of this year was particularly hot. As a matter of fact, I understand that it was the hottest March since the beginning of the last century. ...

This should come as no surprise to any reasonable person. As you know, Daylight Saving Time started almost a month early this year. You would think that members of Congress would have considered the warming effect that an extra hour of daylight would have on our climate. Or did they.

Perhaps this is another plot by a liberal Congress to make us believe that global warming is a real threat. Perhaps next time there should be serious studies performed before Congress passes laws with such far-reaching effects.

What really confuses me is the competent grammar and sentence structure of this letter. If it weren't bat-crap idiocy, it would be a well-written argument.

Found via the Live Journal Picture Generator (sometimes NSFW). A brilliant, brilliant waste of time.

They tried just moving the Earth closer to the sun, but not enough people noticed. Damn liberals.

And FWIW it's an actual article :(

I went to post it on here (we receive the Arkansas Democrat Gazette) but someone had already cut it out

If I could write a letter to the editor such as that and have a reasonable chance of making it to print, I'd do it.

Ever read some of the letters to the Editor?

It was not sarcasm and the writer truly believes there was an extra hour of daylight.

I read somewhere that a woman was mad because when she lost an hour her flowers didn't get enough sun.

The best part is that she blamed it on the liberals who didn't have control of congress when the DST extension was passed.

It's got to be. Nobody is that stupid.

Agreed. In fact I know a lot of people who'd do hilarious zany stuff like send in a fake letter like that.

I met someone years ago that said that DST was enacted so that farmers would have enough time to take care of their cattle. :Q She really believed it.

Well, he does make a good point, an extra hour of sun would make the earth warmer. Also, I bet that if you put an airplane on a treadmill you could make it fly.
