Day Z alpha: How the zombie apocalypse should be

Yeah, I never thought they would be able to release it so soon. They found out it takes much longer to release a decent game then to released a mod. I still play dayz occasionallly, usually on a private hive due to slightly less hacking, I suck and die often. Still fun though.

Is there actually a team working on this? Last I heard (which was awhile ago, I'll admit) Day Z (mod) was being developed by a single guy and he was getting help troubleshooting problems by posting his errors on the Day Z forums.

Yeah, that was a long time ago (over a year ago, when it was just a one-man indie project). There's a sizable team working on it now.

He was supposedly getting some help from one of the Arma coders at one point to help in some rough spots but it is mainly a one man crew from what I understood. I wouldn't expect it anytime soon. Its a lot of work for a small one or two man crew.

Anyone play dayz origins? I played regular dayz for quite a long time but got sick of the map. Origins is awesome so far.. nice huge new map.. much better designed.

Anyone wants to play i'll be on my friends server 69.162.87.122:2802 PLF

I just picked up breaking point, a dayZ modification with more guns, vehicles etc. Will have to see how much that changes gameplay.

I think right now there is way too many ways to play DayZ, and not enough people willing to play the different mods for vanilla DayZ. I see some servers with people in them, but nothing at all compared to last august.

I'd be amazed if upon release Bohemia makes anywhere near the amount of sales they did when DayZ helped Arma 2 sell. I think overall the Zombie simulation in the A3 engine will be a rehash/fad and people will get disinterested very quickly. I also don't think that the release version of endgame for DayZ will be something worth playing. I've yet to hear any news regarding what to do AFTER you get equipped.

If it keeps your items/buildings in-game as you are offline, I don't see many casuals building huge bases because it would be impossible to defend them. Casuals were a LARGE part of DayZ vanilla.
