I was feeling nostalgic last night, and Chocolate Dougnut decided to pull out some old school DoD. After playing DoD:Source solidly for a few months, I was in severe pain going back to the original. I was playing on flash, and comparing that to the source version is like night and day. Everything was familiar, but extremely crappy looking.

It's amazing how graphics evolve. I remember when Final Fantasy VII came out on Playstation and it looked so amazing. Now, while still one of the best games of all time, the graphics are so dated (seeing Advent Children made me long for FFVII to come out on PS3).

I know there are some AT'ers playing DoD:Source (I saw some the other night). Do y'all have favorite servers to play on, or do you just randomly pick servers? If the former, where do you play?
 
Even when FFVII came out, the normal gameplay graphics weren't much. It was the amazing CG movies, that blew me away. Of course the long involved story helped keep you hooked to the set.

I never really played DoD much, but DoD:S is still sucking up unholy amounts of my time.
 
I never played the original DoD, but like the poster above me, DoD: Source has been my main gaming occupation as of late. I play most frequently on a 24/7 Avalanche server because I aboslutely OWN as a German Sniper on that map. 5:1 K: D ratios are not uncommon for me, and I'll still cap flags. Other than that I just look for servers with low ping and a healthy number of players that are playing maps that I want to play at a given moment.
 
I used to play DoD all the way up through the betas. Think I still have my .89 beta clinet somewhere 🙂

However this latest incarnation sucks besides the pretty graphics. They need to fix weapon sway and hit boxes.

 
You get that on all games I think. I remember a couple years ago I was thinking how much fun I used to have playing the old doom. I remember it as this booming, brooding experience...and although I remembered it as being sprite based I thought that the graphics would probably still look pretty good.

Then I fired it up and it was a freaking pixel fest. My memory of it served me a lot better!
 
I play on Chicago Military Madness [MM] server most often, but that is about the only one in particular. Sometimes I hit that 24/7 Avalanche map too, maybe I'll see ya on there!
