Is version 3.1 still playable now that dod source has been released? Just felt like installing it to see if anyone still played. I keep getting a message about the exe being out of date so I figured valve disabled it or something. I cant see any internet games. And it was running so good with my 6600gt. Last time I played I gad a p3 800 mhz with a geforce 256 or something.

You will need to get steam in order to play DoD. You can still play CS1.6 on Steam and I was playing DoD a few weeks ago.

That's why I'll never play DoD again. I loved the original, but Steam is an evil pile of festering whale vomit.

I still play DoD via Steam servers,Steam now is pretty stable(very stable for me)and you will find loads of DoD servers that are always full on Steam, which says a lot for DoD and Steam.

I kinda like Steam. Makes things easy for me.

I hear ya though on playing the old DoD. I might prefer it a bit to the new one. Too fast paced. Too Quakeish.

I get disconnects though constantly. Do any ports or anything have to be open on a router to play the original ? I can't play more than 30 seconds without losing connection, but I can play DoD Source fine.
