How does this all work... I saw a thread about someone complaining they couldn't play DOD with the retail HL2....

Any guidance is appreciated ;)

At the moment the only place to purchase DOD source is from steam

http://steampowered.com/

But you won't get it until it is finished. The silver package is the best deal. Gold adds no games. If you already have an account on steam the best thing to do is create a new account for the purchase so you have additional copies of any of the back catalog games.

You do have the ability to backup the games to DVD or CD's now.

DOD: Source isn't out yet but you will need the silver package to play it.

DOD:S Will be sold seperately, but no one knows for how much, and since you want the other stuff anyways, just get silver.

Best place to buy silver in Canada? Also how decently will my Athlon64 3200+ w/ GF4 Ti @ 275/550 run it? Hopefully I can play it at medium settings decently :(

Edit: I guess I'll have to buy it on Steam so it doesn't really matter ;)
