I haven't gotten nearly enough mileage out of plain old DOW 2 and even less out of Chaos Rising. Anyone want to play The Last Stand?

I'm bored of TLS, despite never actually beating Wave 20.

Chaos Rising let me enjoy 4 playthroughs and made me do a third play of Dawn of War II.

I look forward to this latest installment but only if it varies the content that we already have even further. Being an enjoyer of The Black Library publishings, I feel a little restricted by the equipment available to my Space Marines even if Chaos Rising went a long way to improving this (LasCannons, Lightning Claws as the two examples I can think of)

Oh well, I only played TLS as the space marine and never hit max level. Then the two new heroes arrived and I haven't even tried them.

I wonder if the other races will get campaigns that equal the quality of the Blood Ravens campaign.

Maybe in Dawn of War 3. EDIT: Orks are playable. See the second link.

I would actually like to see modifyable vehicles (I know we had our Dreadnaught but a Predator or Landraider would be fun to outfit with it's own special equipment). Landraider might be a bit too big for such an engagement.

More variety in missions would be welcome. In every mission we seem to be able to take 4 squads with us into the fray. Certainly it would make for an interesting diversion if we were only able to deploy 1 or 2 squads for a certain mission as perhaps a covert recon or assassination mission then I would be most grateful.

I would like to avoid spoilers in this thread so please try to avoid using them:

On that note, I wonder how this one starts considering the ending of Chaos Rising. It could get very interesting but it makes the transition to Orks much less interesting in my opinion.

Think I need to swing by the Relic forums and bug the real WH40k geeks to find out what's what.

I need to finish chaos rising at least once and the original campaign one more time I'd say. I found chaos risings first mission so frustrating that I put it on the back burner and then never went back to it.

What is interesting is that the first I in Retribution is the Inquisitorial symbol.

Perhaps this has more ties to Chaos Rising than it does on first appearances.

One thing I enjoyed about the SC2 campaign were the entertaining single-unit missions. I'm with you in hoping DoW2 does something similar every now and then.

Finally Imperial Guard. But March. Though I dunno how I am going to switch from SC2 to DoW2 again. I did play A LOT of ranked 3v3 and 2v2 in DoW2 so switching may not be so bad even with this long break from the game.

Count me in.

I liked the original DoW better than DoWII, but the sequel was still a very fun game. And playing as the orks is a concept that can't be beat. Relic makes great games, and I hope they are around for a long time.

My only concern is the possible graphics tech they use. Something about the final mission in Chaos Rising caused my 285 to take a serious dump (overheating, artifacting, locking up), so I had to try it a few times before it would even let me finish the game.

They are just now sending out their announcement? The video has been out for a few weeks.

It is indeed strange. What is even stranger is the audio quality on both vidoes is rather poor, even on the high bandwidth version.

You would think they'd ensure high audio and video quality in one of the most important RTS announcements of 2010.

Use steam instead.

Why couldn't they do that in the first place when it was first released is still quite beyond me. This is great news nonetheless, and it's one more reason amongst many others to buy Retribution at its release, in my opinion.

Great news indeed, despite not having any DoW II related issues with GFWL myself.

Very glad they are still using Steam too.

BTW, this could have been added to the official DoW II Retribution thread :)

Wonder if the =I= purged the heretics at Relic/THQ that suggested they use GFWL.
