You don't notice something conspicuously "missing" from Dawn's attire?

pulled out a spare 5900 and it still ran pretty slow. but man that is an impressive demo

tried it long time go, worked, was fast, detail was lacking compared to the nvidia cards because the wrapper didnt do all the stuff it was supposed to

take a look at ati tech demos, like the monkey one, thats amazing, screw dawn gimme da monkey

Where can you get the ATI tech demo (Monkey). I looked on ATI's website and no luck.

is there an 'nvidia' wrapper that will allow the 'patched' (or unpatched depending on who youre asking;) ) dawn demo to be run on an actual nVidia card?

Is the whole deal with renaming the executable to quake3.exe a feature of the ATi wrapper, or will that work with standard nVidia exe as well?

If i buy a 5900U, I want to be able to do that!

Despite how much I love nVidia and always have, I am seriously considering ATi as a formidable opponent in the current gen of graphics accelerators.

I will wait until Doom3 then make my final decision most likely. My Ti4200 (@320/590) could probably support HL2 pretty decently, yes? Obviously without the advantages of DX9...

hopefully the next nvidia card has more temp registers. shouldnt be that hard to do. its one of the major things the slows down the fx in dx9. not enough registers so it has to swap register memory a lot.

How do you remove the Nvidia logo and replace it if your running the dawn demo on a ATI card?

Thanks again. What's up with the oily skin option? I'm going to check out the Chimp demo (FUR) and the lava screen saver's next from ATI.

You wanna see slow? Run the Last Chance Gas demo. It gets quite choppy with a 5900U at 550/1000! They say the demo requires 512MB RAM and a 5900U to run. LOL

Cheers!

I placed the ATI logo in the bin folder and it only appears during the loading of the program. Once the Dawn program is running the NVIDIA logo is still there.

Any suggestions?

Here is a link to the ATI demos.

Those look cool and all... but the monkey just isn't life like... he moves extremely slow, the animation of him opening his mouth looks like characters in Half Life talking. The lava one is cool... but the solid rocks don't look very unique... looks like just the exact same texture tiled all over the entire area... kinda blah if you ask me. DEFINATELY not indicative of the 9800 Pro's capabilities.

*EDIT* The 9700 Pro demos are MUCH more impressive.

The .dds file does not go in the BIN folder. Look at the folder where all the other .dds and .tga files are. It goes in there.

I put the demosN.bmp in the bin folder and moved the nv_badge.dds to the UserInterface folder and the Nvidia logo is still there on the bottom right corner. The ATI logo only shows up when dawn is loading.

Thanks again brian for our prompt responses.
