I?m considering building a custom pc daw (Digital Audio Workstation for audio production/recording). What lead me to

this decision are a few things? Reading about the Roland

MV-8800, I really liked the concept, but it also seemed to

have limitations, hardware/software and ease of use.

Finding software with a similar concept, but more powerful,

easier to use, and stable seemed the way to go, and the

extra cost of a custom pc should be worth it, right??? I?ve

been doing some research trying to find a high end,

reliable, yet powerful pc at a reasonable price. Most seem

to be a bit over priced in comparison to building it

myself. This would be my first complete build. So my

questions are. Has anyone built a custom pc with the

following hardware/software? If so, how stable was it? Are

good custom built pc?s known to be just as stable as

dedicated hardware daw?s? Also, would there be any need for

two monitors at this time?...

Here is a list of hardware and software I came up with so

far. I?m still not sure about everything. For example...

Which motherboard would be best?

Which video monitor?

Video card?

Hard drive?

Software?

Monitor Speakers?

Etc?

With the parts below the estimated cost without any

discount is around $3,400.00. That?s with everything

listed. Certain items I might part with to keep the price

at $3000.00 flat. Paying in the $3000.00 range isn?t bad as

long as it?s reliable, powerful and easy to use.
