Davis calls recall an `insult' to voters

The fact that people who were too lazy to vote in the real election can overturn the people who took the time to vote in November is an insult.

Funny, I thought DAVIS was the insult to voters. 🙂

Maybe so, but they did vote him in...

Barely, and the public has decided to take action that is LEGAL according to Cali law. The only thing "insulting" to the voters would have been if Davis's attempts to stop the recall were sucessful.

/me waits for moonbeams tired song to creep in here.😛

It wasn't the public but a few dis-gruntled Rep's with cash to burn.

Are you sure, davis has a whopping 25% approval rating.

I'll save you the wait: So it's NOT OK for Davis to use legal methods to try to stop the recall, but it IS Ok for Bush to use legal methods to stop a recount 😛 Double Standard. I called it.

Of the 1.6 million people who signed the recall petition 30% are registered democrats.

My point is, the ones who didn't vote in November shouldn't get to participate in the recall petition nor the recall vote.

You called the subject but as always you misrepresent the facts. Gore was the one who was trying to change established LAW by using the courts just as Davis was trying to use the courts to bypass established law. I think you still don't understand the 2000 situation yet - get your buddy moony and have him start a thread(unless he is still scared) and I and others will show you exactly where you are wrong. I see moony was spouting his usualy 2000 tripe again today so maybe he won't chicken out this time🙂 OR we can drop the whole 2000 election talk altogether since it makes little difference now as Bush is the legal President. Make your choice - red or blue😉

While his attempt to cancel or delay or modify the recall may have been through the legal system, what he wanted to do was not "legal". The 2000 recount was declared unconstitutional so it was not legal. Ergo, no double standard. 😉

That works both ways. There are people from both parties who didn't vote last time but who might vote this time.

Well if I were Grey Davis I would wait about a month and then stop the recall after a bunch of wannibes spend a bunch of money.
If he resigns and the Lt. Governer takes the job the recall is void, I would laugh my butt off. Let them stinkin R's stew in their own feces.

Bleep

That's right, the Florida Supreme Court (all democrats) overstepped its legal authority. The US Supreme Court vacated their ruling. That was not good enough. The date for certifying the Florida election had already passed, and the date for seating electors nationally was days away but the Florida supreme court intevened again. The US supreme court vacated their stupid rulings again ruling them unconsitutional. I crack up when the silly fools like Ted Rall and Al Franken say the Supreme Court gave Bush the election. They conventiently leave out the fact that the all democrat Florida Supreme Court tried to give Gore the election.

Isn't the Lt. running a "just in case" campaign?

I would be VERY suprised if Davis resigned.

Well the dems wanted there judges to make the call not the SUPREME COURT hell some of thoose guys are consercative and actually follow the law instead of writing laws. What people fail to relize is that courts are to UPHOLD LAWS not draft legislation. Whenever a court chanes a law that is illegal the courts are to enforce and interperate the law not change them.

Except by order of an appropriate court the recall will go forth. If Davis resigns the Lt. Governor will become Governor and be subject to the recall. Given that the Lt. Governor is also now on the ballot should the recall prevail another legal issue pops up. That is; the election code says that a recalled person may not also run on the ballot for election... but that would eliminate the Lt. Governor from running even though he was not the Governor recalled but he is the person recalled.

Davis sucks, and unless you live in this state, don't say anything...you could not know. When he entered the office we had a several million dollar surplus. CA now has a negative net worth under his hand. Terminate him now! We've had enough! We are not a junk bond state, we just have junk for a leader!

His performance thus far in office has been the real insult. Can't believe the balls on this guy, trying to ignore his dismal past and blame it on a right-wing smear campaign. As usual, the Dem's don't see themselves getting their way, so now they're trying to change the law and get Davis on the replacement ballet. I hope the state drops him like an ant-riddled Twinkie.
