DJIA dropped 300 pts, S&P500 dropped 30, and NASDAQ dropped 70 right after the results were essentially finalized.
Do you buy stocks based on a single day's performance?

Do tell.

These stories are bullshit about laying ppl off because of elections. Any businessman lays ppl off when losing to much money. Hires when making money and/or needing to grow. Regardless of poltics. And since all business has to play under same rules story is bullshit cuz joe competition also has these rules to deal with so you both adapt by rasing prices or cutting other places.

Basically we all play under same rules shrinking or growing is falls on you not boogyman. Otherwise workmans comp would have killed all business. Thats like up to 40 cents per dollar paid out in payroll!

There is still lots of roofing businesses in my area.

Have you guys seen "The Queen of Versailles"? It's the story about David Siegel. The film's timeline was early 2008 until a year or so ago (I'm not 100% on ending time-frame).

I think it's worth a redbox night.

So he's going to lay off 22 of 114 employees. Were those 22 employees previously employed as a charity? Did he lose 22 employees worth of business? If not, then who is going to do the work that would have been done by those 22 employees?

For the chairman and chief executive of Murray Energy, an Ohio-based coal company, the reelection of President Obama was no cause for celebration. It was a time for prayer — and layoffs.

Robert E. Murray read a prayer to a group of company staff members on the day after the election, lamenting the direction of the country and asking: “Lord, please forgive me and anyone with me in Murray Energy Corp. for the decisions that we are now forced to make to preserve the very existence of any of the enterprises that you have helped us build.”

On Wednesday, Murray also laid off 54 people at American Coal, one of his subsidiary companies, and 102 at Utah American Energy, blaming a “war on coal” by the Obama administration. Although that charge was repeatedly leveled during the election, energy analysts say that the coal-mining business is suffering because of competition from low-cost natural gas and rising production costs of coal, especially in the Appalachian region.

Murray Energy is the country’s largest privately owned coal mining company, with about 3,000 employees producing about 30 million tons of bituminous coal a year, according to its Web site.

“Dear Lord:

The American people have made their choice. They have decided that America must change its course, away from the principals of our Founders. And, away from the idea of individual freedom and individual responsibility. Away from capitalism, economic responsibility, and personal acceptance.

We are a Country in favor of redistribution, national weakness and reduced standard of living and lower and lower levels of personal freedom.

My regret, Lord, is that our young people, including those in my own family, never will know what America was like or might have been. They will pay the price in their reduced standard of living and, most especially, reduced freedom.

The takers outvoted the producers. In response to this, I have turned to my Bible and in II Peter, Chapter 1, verses 4-9 it says, ‘To faith we are to add goodness; to goodness, knowledge; to knowledge, self control; to self control, perseverance; to perseverance, godliness; to godliness, kindness; to brotherly kindness, love.’

Lord, please forgive me and anyone with me in Murray Energy Corp. for the decisions that we are now forced to make to preserve the very existence of any of the enterprises that you have helped us build. We ask for your guidance in this drastic time with the drastic decisions that will be made to have any hope of our survival as an American business enterprise.

Amen.”

On one hand people got raises.
OTOH, the rest were fired.

Libs tout the raises. Go figure.

Two separate stories and the second one sounded more like he wanted to punish his slaves for not getting his way.

I also like how he makes it seem like it's Obama punishing minorities when it's really just a business owner making a poor decision based on nothing but politics.

You're usually a level headed guy, don't let this loss of you precious messiah hit you too hard. (yes, to both camps in the US their candidate is clearly reveared as a messiah that will solve everything through some sort of miracle, because that is what it would take)

I'm a liberal and at heart i think you are too, you can't compromise progress and what is right no matter if it is in the air, on the ground or in your own nation.

Rights are inherent to everyone but the GOP, in their opinion rights are god given and decided by the state.

NO one should EVER vote for a party that believes that their interpretation of Gods word is grounds for lawmaking.

If you don't know why, you're not fit to vote.
