Wow. I'm watching SportsCenter and they just did a whole special on his new school, the Carver Academy. It takes kids in bad neighborhoods and gives them a good educational opportunity. He put up over 9 million of his own dollars for it, and solicited private donations. This man truly has my respect.

All season long, he had been asking people to donate to his academy in lieue of all those halftime celebrations and what not for his final season. He's a good guy.

Agreed: on a similar note, the celebrity that I admire the most is: Richard Gere.

I don't think Shaq hates him. Shaq may hate a lot of players and a lot of teams..but there's really no team in the NBA that hates anyone on the Spurs..

Yeah, how can anyone hate the Spurs? I don't think there's a single bad guy on that team. Robinson is truly a model athlete, I wish more players (of all athletic organizations) were like him. Shaq could learn a thing or two about proper off-court behavior from Robinson, that's for sure.

Go Lakers!

Dude I'm the biggest Laker fan there is but you're nuts to say that about David Robinson. You look at him in his prime and he was a 29 pt/14 rebound/4 block machine. The guy was a physical specimen before back injuries did him in. Of course, for a 7'1" center, he had the worse post up game, but still, the guy was a monster in every other facet.

I love Robinson also! Not only is he an amazing bball player, he is also a great guy. He does so much for the community....you can tell he has a huge heart! Glad others notice his acts of service also... Now we all just have to try and give a little back!

how the hell one of the greatest 50 bball players can be an average player is beyond me.

DRob isn't what he used to be that's for sure. And I, being the expert sports analyst that I am ( ;) ) never thought he was able to get the "I will kill you" type of I'm going to win attitude (like MJ in his prime, or Larry Bird even).....but man, in his day, he was unbelievable.

Scoring Title, Defensive Player of THe year, MVP ? What's average about that career?

I hate that DRob is hanging it up, but it's time. It's a shame he had so many back problems. I've been hoping the Spurs win it this year just for him, but if the Spurs can't learn to make a dman free throw, then they're done.

I can't think of an athlete I'd be more honored to meet then DRob.
