I'd agree with "one of the greatest rock/pop/blues guitarists ever," along with Richard Thompson, Jimi Hendrix, and more I'm too lazy to think of and type in

Someone should gather up all of Gilmour's 80s/90s studio/guest work and put it on one CD: "Love and Anger" and "Rocket's Tail" for Kate Bush, "Is Your Love Strong Enough" with Bryan Ferry, "Pink and Velvet" with Berlin, etc.
