David Duchovny: no more X-Files EVER.

I expected this. 🙁

I also disagree with him (much good that it does) on that his character is still somewhat vital to the show, as the father of Scully's baby.

Just my opinion, but in that interview, he sounded like he wasn't coming back because he felt like the show had already moved on without him - it sounded like he was whining, like he'd actually expected to be able to do half a season and still have the show be all about Mulder and Scully, and he was upset that when he came back, he wasn't the "star" anymore.

Regardless of what he said, I don't think this is necessarily the end of Mulder - maybe I'm reading too much into it, but it almost sounds like he wants his ego stroked a bit more and then maybe he'll come back for an episode or two.

How did that lawsuit he filed against Fox and Chris Carter over royalties turn out?

No big loss to me, I just was recently exposed to the x files again and I found dogget to make them much more enjoyable for me than the mulder ones.

You might be right. A lot of people think he's done nothing but whine for the past few seasons, first to have the set moved to Hollywood from it's location in Vancouver, and then whining over money issues.

Oh yeah, they did move X-files for him, or atleast he had a big part in it.

Well according to an article i read on Zap2it.com, (maybe it's the same) he said he wasn't returning because he felt Mulder was just a secondary side story. He wasn't happy with that because he said X-files is about Scully and Mulder, which is partly true.

But first, X-files is also about weird people and crimes, lol.

In addition, the reason why Mulder became a secondary side story, was because he left! And also, i don't think his storyline is that secondary...i mean, i don't remember too many episodes where there was NO mention of mulder.

BTW, i think the money issue he was talking about was about syndication rights and stuff. I think he was complaining he wasn't getting enough.

I don't think the X-Files was 'his' show. Gillian Anderson had as much (and probably more) to do with it than he did. Didn't he get paid more than Anderson and get top billing in the credits? His acting is not as good as Anderson's (reminds me of a Jeff Goldblum impersonation) yet he feels like he has to be the center star of the show.

Hey, did you guys know that he does soft-core porno movies? The other day when I was at Blockbuster, there was a movie called Red Shoes that had one of those "mature audience" stickers on it, and he was listed as one of the stars.

Oh yeah, when I first watched the X-Files and thought he was attractive, I sought out The Red Shoe Diaries (which appeared on Showtime as a series - it may still be on, but without him now). But apart from the first episode which wasn't all that great, it's really just an anthology (sort of like The Hitchhiker was on HBO) where he does some opening and closing voice-overs for some pseudo-porn.

Wow you weren't sh!tting, although I'm not sure if these are soft-core porno's.

oh sh!t, just checked it, I thought Russ was just messing with us!

Fox pissed me off a couple seasons ago when they moved the show from Canada to LA. I think I watched 2 new episodes since then. I really wished they'd canceled it at that point, cause the show was really dead afterwords. They turned it from a really scary, mystery, sci-fi show, into god damn NYPD blue.

I still watch the old episodes though, and I'd buy the DVD collections of the first seasons if they werent so expensive. The show used to be great.

Red Shoe diaries was a series on the Showtime network several years ago.

Good. The show became less "Mulder centered" because he wandered off to make movies. Fine, but don't whine about it after!

Truth is he got bored and doesn't want to do this anymore.

Good!

I like Dogget MUCH better. Now if only Anderson would leave too...

ChrichtonsGirl,

HeHe. I guess I should have looked a little closer; didn't realize he was just the host. The box actually looked pretty tasty, but I just couldn't get my head around a movie with him in that kind of role.🙂

I totally agree with you. I also got the same feeling that he's just bitchin' that he's not the center of attention anymore!

Totally. I can't believe I'm saying this, but it would've been better if they just left him dead...

Personally, I think the only reason he came back in the first place was because everyone had forgotten about him. Now that he has a new movie out, his career could get moving again, so he thinks he doesn't need the X-Files anymore. Once he realizes that he is always going to be typecast as a Mulder-style character, he'll disappear for good, IMO.

Yeah but he did get married to Tea loni and I can understand why he would want to be with her. Also they basically screw Duchovney and Anderson out of some money by underselling the shows rights.

<<Didn't he get paid more than Anderson and get top billing in the credits?>>

I think he got $200,000 more per episode than Anderson.
