Dave's injured; Megadeth breaks up!

Dave seriously injured his left arm/hand, quit Megadeth, and shortly thereafter the band offically announced it had broken up. Full story here.

I can only imagine what is going thru Dave's mind right now. For over 20yrs he's been an influence on the Metal community (since he was 18 or so) and now he might not ever play guitar again, let alone play like he used to.

I can't see Dave getting outta music totally. Maybe he'll start producing and we'll actually get some good Metal bands instead of this nu-metal crap that's spreading like the plague...

Fear Factory called it quits last month, Pantera is rumored to be on the virge of breakup, and now Megadeth is no longer 🙁

All the metal bands I grew up to are going away. 🙁 🙁
 
wow that really sucks. Dave lives up in Scottsdale too. He is always on the local radio stations doing interviews and the like. Very intelligent man and a great musician. Hope his hand heals and they have a reunion tour in five years!
 
Uhoh...I have a few friends that are going to be getting very drunk and feeling sorry for themselves tonight once they hear about this. I still have "Peace Sells" on vinyl somewhere, great album.

I got home yesterday and logged on to Megadeth.com to read this news. I thought it was some sick late April Fools joke.

Megadeth has been my favourite band since I was 12 years old (1992). I've seen them 5 times. I waited outside in the cold once for 8 hours so I could get tickets to an acoustic set that they performed. I like a lot of bands and a lot of music, but Megadeth was almost an obsession. Needless to say, this news hit me hard.

Who knows, maybe Dave will record music again someday? I hope so. I believe he will do a lot of producing in the next couple of years, so Megadeth fans may want to look out for that.

I will probably go out tomorrow night and drink a couple cold ones in memory of my favourite band and I'll wear my Megadeth jersey for good measure.

RIP Megadeth.

Megadeth and Dave Mustaine were an incredible musical influence on me. Rust in Peace, Countdown to Extinction, and Youthanasia are three of my most listened to albums. The band ended for me tho when Marty Friedman and Nick Menza left. I just hope Dave's hand heals. He is/was an incredible guitarist. Much better than *puke* Kirk Hammett, who took his place in Metallica.

They even use the bass intro on MTV after they show that lame news sh!t. Wonder how many idiots watching recognize it (MTV BLOWS)
 
I don't listen to them but its got to be a bummer to find something that you really love doing, muchless get paid to do it, muchless get awards doing it, muchless get paid BIG bucks to do it....and then not be able to do it anymore. 🙁

Is that really it? I've noticed that, but never took the time to figure out if it was the exact same thing... I just thought it was a ripoff... so does Megadeth get royalties every time they play it? 😛
