Umm..ok...but since his band was called "The Dave Matthews band" and none of the other guys really did anythingbut play for him. Why would this new "solo career" be any different?

I like DM and I'd be intersted in this album, but that gravedigger song doesn't do it for me. I think there's something wrong with it. I guess it's just kind of silly or it's not put together properly or something. The lyrics just don't do it for me.

The song is so much better live and acoustic.

I've been told by those who've heard parts of the album that it essentially sounds like DMB. I don't know why he decided to go and do a solo album.

what a stupid thing to say. to suggest he is the almighty in the band and makes every decision shows your ignorance.
also, the band name thing is irrelevant. read any review, and you'll see how this cd is different from the bands music.
ah well, you're not going to get a favorable reaction to a thread like this in a big forum. too many haters.

Dude, I love Gravedigger. I've already made plans to head to Best Buy and pick up his new cd (and maybe even one for my brother-in-law who's serving in Iraq). I can't wait till tomorrow! :)

I loved the stuff he did with Tim Reynolds sans the band, if that is any indication of his solo stuff I might look into it.

Does Best Buy have the limited edition package with the Tim and Dave disc?

Looking at the website it seems they do. Not bad for $10.

its really not that much of a solo album, guests include tim reynolds, trey from phish, and a few other people. so far i really like it. it does sound different than the full band releases. the limited edition cd that comes with it is also awesome, from the acoustic tour this past spring.

My thoughts exactly. It's sort of like if Paul McCartney announced he's going solo on his next album. What? Oh, man, I'm really gonna miss the bass playing from that guy I'll never know by name!

I never understood the whole DMB thing. My aunt is a die-hard fan and still can't explain what's so great about this guy in a way that resonates with me. I think it's like the Greatful Dead of Phish... DMB sounds really good if you've put enough THC in your brain.

John Mayer doesn't do drugs and his lyrics are the better for it. Too bad for Dave, someone stole his gig and does it better.
