What is the verdict on his new solo album? I just listened to most of it at my local B&N and liked it, but it doesn't "seem" to be getting rave reviews nor flying off store shelves.

Dave is so yesterday.

And what garbage of today do you listen to?

I have recently gotten into Sinatra. I guess I am getting old. Rush, Pink Floyd, Sting and bands like that have been on my list lately.

Dave got boring. Seen him twice in concert and that was one too many. I even had front row, well it was general admission but I clawed my way to the front during the opening band when no one cared. Was about 8 feet away from Dave the whole night.

Trey Anastasio from Phish is in his solo band along with Tim Reynolds and a few other great musicians.

The solo album is decent. I really just haven't listened to it much. The Central Park concert was super. The DATs I downloaded sounded perfect. Can't wait to pick up the DVD here in a few weeks.

I think sinatra is one of Dave's influences, but how is the band boring, esp live? They are probably some of the best live performers out there....of course if pyrotechnics and flashy lights is your thing, the DMB really isn't for you.

Perhaps if was your proximity to Dave that made the show the way it was ;)

I wouldn't be surprised if the amount of times bootlegs of live performances were listened too, outnumbered the times the studio tracks did.

Their concerts just seem to never end and it all sounds the same after awhile. I was a fan in college but have lost interest since then. Maybe paying $50 for the same stuff played over and over again just isn't worth it. I would rather take in a play. I must be getting old.

I have been to about 50 concerts in my life and Daves were okay. Some of the best shows I have seen are Rush, Pink Floyd and Mathew Sweet. Some of the concerts had awesome lighting while others did not. If the flashy lights are done right, it can make a great concert.

Edit: Dave will have his following for a long time but his days of MTV are over. This is a good thing. He will grow and maybe change the way he sounds. Some love and some hate him, I have just put his cds on the do not play list for now. Get back to me in a couple of years.

I got last minute tickets from a guy who just broke up with his gf and didn't want to go. The show was at Soldier Field in Chicago. I remember the fine mist in the air with the laser beams piercing through them. One of the coolest things I have ever seen.
