I think he's incredibly funny. That said, I just don't get a few things about his act (I'm watching his stand up right now on Comedy Central). He mentions talking at his old high school, giving advice on how to get out of the ghetto. But he went to Duke Ellington High School for the Arts in Washington, a very nice and expensive school. In fact, for all his talk about how he grew up, a little research shows that he was the son of two college professors, and grew up in very affluent communities (Silver Springs, MD, and Yellow Spring, OH, etc). Someone also told me he's a 1/4 Asian, although I'm not sure if that's true or not.

Meh, I know, "who cares?" he's a funny guy with a succesful career, etc. It's just curious to me how much he talks about race, the ghetto, etc....when his background doesn't really reflect the experience he might lead us to believe...

He cracks me up. With that said, he is an idiot he is just another African American that pretends he would like to move African Americans forward, make change ...etc to get the many current African Americans out of their current life style and into a more socially contributing one, then he goes on his show and sets the opposite example and possibly the opposite of his true self, just to make money...then on top of that he gets angry about why people took the wrong lesson from him and gets a nervous breakdown from it...just me 2 cents.

He's just using that as a setup for his jokes. If I remember the joke he says something along the lines of "I told those kids if they want to get outta this ghetto they gotta stay in school and learn... how to play basketball or rap or something". Heh, that was pretty funny, I thought. Anyway, Tupac went to a performing arts high school too, but he claimed to be a thug. Fiction sells better than the truth if the truth isn't entertaining enough.

I don't know about Dave, but Silver Springs isn't that nice. Bethesda, yes. Silver Springs, MD no.

How does he set the opposite example on his show? Most of his comedy is observational and in the form of parody!!

Good thing he doesn't do interviews for a living.
