Dave Chapelle, For What It's Worth

I've been watching his special for the last half hour waiting for the funny part. Seriously, maybe he should watch a little Richard Pryor to understand what funny is. Maybe it's because I had a lousy day at work but, does anyone actually think he's funny? No set up, no timing and, not much to identify with pretty much sums up this special.

I loved his special. And I can't stand Richard Pryor. Comedy ages like shit sandwiches.

Comedy is all about pain. Whether the joke is about a common fear, anxious moment or, poking fun at society's customs, the one thing that holds our attention and makes us laugh is the ability to imagine ourselves in the comedians shoes so to speak. Dave Chapelle doesn't offer much in the way of a common bond or background with anyone.

FWIW is one of the funniest specials I've ever seen. I still find myself chuckling over lines 2 years after watching it.

"For What It's worth" wasn't anywhere near as good as Killin' Em Softly. If you don't like Chappelle though, maybe you should go watch Nick at Night.

What's chappelle up to these days anyhow? Hope he's happy.
