Dave and Busters arcade a ripoff: $1.25/game?!

i was just at dave and busters recently. the way their arcade works is that u buy a card and swipe it in the machines to play. the amount of credit each game requires varies, but the avg is about 5 credits. each credit is $0.25. so 1.25/game?! geez. The star wars simumlator game cost 12 credits ($3)!

and to add insult, those game are set to "hard" and give u the least # of lives. ie: tekken 4 only gives u 2 lives, where as other arcades have at least 3, if not 5.

Now the only situation d+b arcade is good is when u are on a date. there are lots of games that 2 people can play together. but for both of u to try the star wars simulator, it'll be 24 credits or $6 for like a couple of minutes!

You're definitely paying for atmosphere there. Plus, Dave and Buster's isn't exactly targeting 13 year olds with lawn mower money. It's primarily targeting grown up men with a lot more disposable income.

Terrible. They call dave & busters here "Dicks & Botos" Its usually all drunk guys getting rowdy.. =(

i was in Denver this weekend and the ESPNZone up there has those cards for the vid games. 15pt card for $5.00 well we only wanted to play "bubble hockey" (the best game ever) and it was 6!! pts a game! that is like $2 a game!!! back in college we had a bubble hockey machine on campus (this was only about 3 years ago) and it was $.25 a game! yeah those bars with arcades in them are a joke. we wondered the city of Denver and went down to the Union Station bus station. they had an arcade. it was the coolest arcade ever. two Neo Geo multiple choice games, two classic pinball machines, some untitled hockey game, Stun Runner, Pac Man and Ms. Pac Man, Centipede, akranoid, and Operation Wolf! all were a quarter except for the pinball machines...we spent probably an hour and a half in there....

see if you can't find a disney quest near you. i remember the time i went, i spent the whole day but it was like a time warp. you pay an entrance fee and all the arcade games and other games are free.

there's a place in woodfield called Gamezone or something, it's like D&B except that you can buy 3 hour passes for like 25 bucks.

heh, thats why they make you use the card. You don't feel like you're spending as much when you "swipe" the card.
