My son is currently in college, he said it looks like handwritten exams/assignments seem to be making a comeback. And at least in his circles (nerds) they're making fun of people who use AI.
Wait so when students use AI they're literally just copy and pasting the entire assignment instructions into it too?!
Hopefully, you at least used AI to summarize the thread first?Don't even need to read the thread.
100% The Daughter used AI. Good on the school for actually trying to do something about it.
That's still such a horseshit thing to do given the poor abilities of these checking tools.Forgot to update this thread. Apparently she got an email from the instructor that something like 75% of the class was flagged for using AI on the assignment. Rather than give everyone flagged 0s, she gave everyone flagged 50% instead, because, *gasp*, surely 75% couldn't have used AI. W/e. She's done with the class tomorrow or early next week. She sent her an email asking how she can avoid this situation for her final but is still waiting for a response.

It's actually not technically irrational when things are unknown. Evidence can be weak but not enough to make the evidence self-disqualifying. The judgment is based on incomplete information. At face value, that's some flawless logic right there! <slow clap>
IMO there's an internal politics element going on here. Maybe something like the teachers are being told to use AI tools to ferret out AI use, but also teachers are told that they're going to encounter problems if that many students are given 0s for their work.

This is probably going to be the best way to provide evidence if the accusation occurs again.Ultimately, rebutting a presumption requires evidence. So, setup a recording setup in your daughter's room, and also tell her to screen record her work.
That way, uncertainty is eliminated and you can prove a case in the future.
