Just predicting the future

Atlanta announced Monday that it signed 47-year old Morten Andersen, who will be playing in his 25th year, to try and salvage the placekicking woes that plagued it in two season-opening losses.

To create room for Andersen, the Falcons waived Matt Prater, the free-agent first-timer the team gambled on and lost. Prater, signed after one preseason outing after being released by three other teams over the past year, missed three of four field goals, including two in Sunday's 13-7 loss at Jacksonville.

Well, at least they haven't tried to re-sign Steve DeBerg at QB....yet.

Yep they had VERTERAN Billy Cundiff and cut him as Prater had more leg strength YET he had never attempted a kick in a regular season game

<-- Falcons fan.

Why do teams keep undervaluing their kickers. You think all games were won by 50 points or more, not less then 10 where a feild goal could be the difference between having a chance or just out right winning.

NEW QB for Falcons?

They have no choice. Their problems don't begin and end with the QB but Harrington is showing why he's no better than a backup. He can be serviceable but he's not going to win games.

lame to blame harrington for getting sacked... as if the falcons had a half decent o-line and capable receivers to begin with

any coach who blames the qb for shitty o-lines and piss poor wide receivers should be fired and kicked in the nuts.

Ahh life as Colts fan is so much sweeter when the only team that matters is playing the Patriots. If you beat them, you win a super bowl.

As I said above, the QB problems don't begin and end with Harrington but he's showing why he isn't a starting NFL QB. Holding on to the ball too long is part of the problem.

Look at Matt Schaub in Houston. He's making faster decisions and getting the ball out quicker with pretty much the same offensive line that David Carr was getting sacked behind last season.

If Atlanta would have kept a certain QB, they wouldn't have an issue right now ;)

At the time, it was a smart trade. One of the few smart moves that McKay has made since being the GM of the Falcons. They got a lot of value out of trading Schaub.

If they had found out what a slimeball Vick was earlier, they wouldn't be in this situation.

Why is it so hard to find a good kicker? We had a reliable one all the way back in highschool. Heck, the Bears found one on a construction crew.

Its not that hard but teams don't seem to care for kickers much. Only time they care is when they don;t connect. But by then its to late. Just ask the falcons that had a good kicer then dumped him for a guy that has never kicked in a full game BUT had great leg strength.

Because kicking in the NFL is pretty damn hard?

Why can't every team find a 2,000 yard rusher, etc.

Yeah, just ask the cowboys and the 3-4 they went through last year.

I remember when they gave away Ryan Longwell & I was thinking that was a HUGE mistake, but this Crosby kid sounds like he's got quite a foot!!!!!

Crosby is quite the kicker so far.
The guy already kicked a 52 yarder at Heinz field (a record) and a 53 yarder against Philly.
