Date information in dash of car?

I can honestly say that I don't recall being in a car that displays the day of the week and the date. Why is that? Also, why don't the clocks in cars synchronize with the atomic clock like my wall clock at home does? These things seem very cheap and very basic but don't seem to appear, at least not very often, in modern cars.

On a side note, this article was interesting.

It's all part of a conspiracy to put a gay, republican puppet president into the White House in 2012.

C'mon now! I can buy a basic watch that displays the day of the week and date information that I'm asking for for only a few bucks, so I don't see how it could add so much to the cost to make it prohibitive for manufacturers to include.

Just paste the face of the watch next to the gas gauge or something.

Why would you think about the date whlie driving anyway. I don't want people wondering about appointments and birthdays and crap driving on the same road as me.

Why in the world do you need a date display in your car? Are you often late by days? (OMG! I thought it was 8 am on 10/23, not 8 am on 11/23!)

Most people can not program a VCR. Do you think they would want a blinking "January 1st, 1900" on their dash?

Now wait a damn minute! I ask for date information and it's something absurd, but people can put entire damn computers, DVD players, etc. in their dash and that's okay.

I'll concede the date information, but why can't it at least keep it's own time like my cell phone so I don't ever have to set it? That doesn't seem too much to ask damnit! 🙂

Travel as much as I do and you quickly lose track of what day it is. You wake up in a different city every day for 2 weeks in various time zones and you don't know WTF day of the week it is, let alone day of the month.

I've had days I've walked into the office and had to ask what day of the week it is because I honestly didn't know.

Are you the norm or the exception?

The exception, obviously. But my car already says "Hi" on the radio display when I turn it on. Why not also have it say "Hi, Today is Thursday the 21st".

Exactly! I generally know what day of the week it is, but sometimes I can't remember what the actual date is.
