Ever since I have joined AT Forums, I have noticed that the forums only allow you to view the posts in the "american date format" which is mm/dd/yyyy, whereas anybody outside the US uses dd/mm/yyyy. Can we have an option to set this somewhere in vBulletin?

Also, on a related note: how's the transition to vBulletin going? Derek Wilson mentioned:
[...]the best I can do on a general time frame is sometime between the end of this month and the end of the year. I'll be hugely surprised if we are able to move faster than that, and I'll be very disappointed if it takes longer [...]

I have seen VBulletin forums that allow you to choose your date format. I was at one where this wasn't available, so I asked for it to be included and they put it in. VBulletin is quite flexible.

In PFI in December he said "After the move to vB (seriously, it's happening ... we're looking at a few weeks after the holidays are behind us)..."

That's the latest information I have seen.



 
I like any format that has the month name in it.

I hate the numbered format because there's no real standard to it. some use mm/dd/yy some use dd/mm/yy etc... so is 4/5/09 March 5th or is it May 4th? In the case of a forum you can just compare with other posts and if you see one go above 12 then you know it's the day of month, but still. Feb/02/09 is the easiest to read format. Or Feb-02-09 whatever. The 2nd I use all the time in filenames, such as dated logs/backups.

And while we're at it, for the next 22 years we should probably use 4-digit years, since 02-Feb-09 could be either Feb 9th, 2002 or Feb 2nd, 2009.

Yep. I use 20090609 for documents at work. It's the only logical date order for sorting, though putting dashes or whatnot to make it more readable is clearly an option.
