Data Transfer from Iphone to Galaxy S7

I need to transfer contacts and messages from an Iphone 5S to a new Galaxy S7. I see there are many programs available, some free, some for a fee. Looking for some recommendations. Thank you.

There are several ways to do that. If you Google "Data transfer iPhone to Android" you can see several. You can also use an intermediate data store such as Cloud, computer, Dropbox, etc.

For Contacts, your best bet would be to transfer it to Google Contacts, and then you will be able to sync to different phones without ever having to worry about contact transfer. As for messages, you will have to look at the default transfer tool that Samsung offers. I know however, once on Android, you can easily export the sms into a xml for easy transfer.

Samsung Smart Switch is great in theory, but a real world fail. Wouldn't complete the transfer process, getting about 65% through and then giving me an "Unknown error has occurred. Please try again." Well, I did, about 4 times and it just kept repeating. Did a search online and found it isn't an unknown issue. Don't know what the fix is, but I'm going to try something else.

Yes , the Google account can be used to transfer data , not only that , i have used Gmail account and Facebook to transfer contacts from Samsung to iPhone ,

If you haven't succeeded yet , you can use the Mobiledic phone transfer tool . since i started using iPhone , it's my preferred data transfer tool,
