Last week the partitions in my HDD's gone one by one, BTW I have one 160gbWDC and 160gb Maxtor., both of them have the same problem.
I cant access or read the drive now.

Anybody know what software/programs should i use?

If its definetly just a software problem (the drive does not physically malfunction) then try looking into PC Inspector file recovery, I used that before and it worked great for me.

wow interesting thread.

I have a 160gig maxtor and a 160 Samsung that this just happened to too.
I used Ontrack Data recovery to get my data back but more want to know WTF caused it.

My maxtor lost its partition THREE TIMES. So I figured bad HD and tossed it in trash. Replaced with 160gig Samsung and it lost its partition too! so I have a dif problem than "bad" HDs obviously. Not to mention I trashed what was likely a perfectly good HD!!!!!!

So you got your data back? How many was the percentage?
Do you think this case related with jumper position?

"most" of my data... maybe 90%
trick I learned is do it once unformatted, then do a quick format and scan it again.

jumper position? doubtful I know I have mine right. Something has to be F;ed up in my OS or hardware. I have no idea what though. That machine is OFF until I get it firgured out
