My hard disk is corrupted... Windows won''t even recognize the drive.
What are some ways to recover data?
I'm thinking of trying a liveCD Linux distro with data recovery utils... any suggestions on which distros?

Bios drive recognition is important. I believe I have had GetDataBack find a drive when the bios did not recognize it. It can take many multiple reboots until that one time the bios does recognize the drive. I am not familiar with linux recovery tools, with exception of the 'dd' command. Knoppix, or any other liveCD may help. These programs may help recover the data.

1) R-Studio
2) GetDataBack
3) Ontrack's Easy Recovery Pro
4) Quetek
5) File Scavenger
6) HDD Regenerator

I prefer GetDataBack.
