I have a friend that lost her data to a bad HDD. I don't have the details unfortunately but I've been asked to make a recommendation on a business that can recover the data. I have let her know it will not be cheap.

I've tried looking for reviews but have turned up nothing. If anyone has any good experiences, knows how much they were charged, etc. I'd appreciate it.

Is the drive not working?
Does it show up?

The problem is that it can cost in the region of 2000+ $$$$$$ if it has to be taken apart in a clean room environment.

If the drive works, then it is possible to get data recovery software - which is a hell of a lot cheaper.

We've used these guys four or five times and been very pleased with the results. Their generic quote is $500 to $3500, with actual recoveries running between $1100 and $2300.
