Data recovery question...

I'm trying to help a family member get ready for a nasty divorce. Her husband went and uninstalled Quicken and deleted a bunch of her financial records from her computer while she was away.

Any tips from the resident AT software crowd? Any apps worthy of a look for this purpose?

Man that sucks. People are so spiteful. I've got the OEM version of this lying around somewhere Restore it (by Farstone) Never used it so I can't comment on it's performance. You can borrow it or buy it cheap if you want........ Here's a bump for ya nonetheless.....

Much appreciated guys, downloaded several and will try them tomorrow.

Please note, DO NOT install recovery software on teh drive you want to recover data from. I would actually recommend shutting down that PC, take the drive out, hook it up to another machine via USB or slave it out, and then recover the data.

^ listen to ol' Jack Burton, and remember it's all in the reflexes.

If there is a lot of money involved you might tell her to pay the $1K - $5K for -professional- data recovery instead of trying it yourself. Finding one hidden investment could more than pay for it.

Also, she should not using the computer at all until the recovery is complete.
