Data recovery program for cd/wav files

A bud of mine is re-editing a bunch of boot-leg tracks from the infamous never-completed BeachBoys "Smile" album -- he's going to reconstruct the album based on the documented orginal playlist (!!!!). He's already burned a bunch of wav tracks to cd, but somehow he accidentally messed up the tracks on one or two of the cds (on one, the puter accidentally tried to record over something with a placket writer, etc). He wants to know if there are any inexpensive or freeware progs out there for trying to recover file info from cd. All help is appreciated.
