I had a phone stolen with a bunch of really important (to me) pics on it.
After a month I was able to recover the phone, but the thieves had wiped the memory and taken many new pics with it which overwrote my old data.
I used GetDataBack and Recuva and also Pandora Recovery on the 16gb micro SD card and I was able to retrieve maybe 1/3 of the lost pictures and videos. But even of those some are partially corrupted. For many, the thumbnails work, but the full picture is unusable.
My basic understanding of flash memory tells me that advanced data recovery techniques are much less effective when trying to restore old data than with traditional platter drives.
I would consider sending this to a lab, but I am wondering if that is even a good option with flash-based memory?
