Data life of burned CDROM media

2-3 seconds in the mirowave.

But seriously, I've heard 10-15 years. I have no actual data to back that up with, but I have some 7-8 year old CDs that still work.

My belief in CD-R media dropped dramatically when my mp3 Cds were falling apart in the CD case. The linked page above is right, the top label/data coating scratches and flakes off so easy.

It depends on the CD-R. I've heard crappy ones can go in a matter of years while high quality ones can last for much much longer.

I have some great old discs (Kodak, Maxell, Philips...) with no problems after 9-10 years and dozens of thrashed ones (mainly Princos and Tevions) which became useless after less than a year.
It depends on the media.
