Hey all, i got my first job as a data entry processor. I am a junior with a major in Information System. Do u think i should look for a better job that requires more skills or is this the right place to start?

I feel that i should be doing more complicated tasks then data entry, but not sure what else i can look for...

Thanks.

Gain experience then try to move to a better position when there's an opening in the company.. then you will have proved yourself as a valuable hard working employee and they'll consider moving you to another position which may be more difficult, and may or may not be higher paying.

is this a big company? like zCypher said, maybe you can keep an ear out for openings within the company.

what programming languages do you know? could you possibly look into interning as a developer somewhere? that will provide much better experience. it's also good for when you're looking for a job after graduating.

I would look at this strictly as a placeholder job, while you devote all available resources to finding something more inline of your capabilities and wishes. It's ok to start, and at least puts you in the same ballpark, though you're up high in the stands and can't really see much of the game, and you're certainly not getting much batting practice.

Its a fairly big company i think. Its called Arbitron. I know c, c++, sql, pl/sql, vb. I am not an coding junky but i did get all A's and b's in those classes. But sittin there keyin away for the day seems like a waste of my time....

can we have that in real words? excuse my chinky-ness please😱

if u get really bored u can always keep applying...guage for yourself whether the job is the right place for you to start.

Data Entry is on the low low end of places to start. I'd begin by applying to be programmer for small companies, assistant programmer for larger ones.

I remember doing a data entry job when I was Sophomore in High School. boring as hell
