Data CD reads as an Audio CD

Im working on a computer that will read any data cd that you put in the cd rom as an audio cd. If you right click- open the cd in my computer what should be data files show up as audio tracks and you cannot access them. I've been searching support.microsoft.com for awhile and havent had any luck. Anyone ever come accross this and have a good solution, or might it be a bad cd rom?

It's an older toshiba laptop with windows 95.

Are you using CDR media?
Does it play audio CDs?

I ran into a similar problem once and it was the CD-Rom,
it couldn't read CDRs.

Hope this helps....

No CDR discs.

The Disc I was using was a 3Com driver cd.

Dont know if it plays audio cd's, because I didnt have one handy at the time. It's an onsite job and I wasn't even gong over there for this particular problem. I was actually just supposed to install a pc card modem.

I'll probably be over there again on monday, so I'll try an audio cd then.

Thanks
