Can I backup Data "on the fly" through a LAN?

I would like to make a Ghost copy of my HD in PC1 to the HD on PC2.
Is that possible? Would a program like Norton Ghost support this option? Also, could the program change all the files that I change on PC1 on PC2 also?

Thanks

I'm not sure exactly what you're asking, but I'll give you my interpretation.

If you're backing up 'on the fly', i.e., while the OS is running, I think you'll run into problems depending on the version you're using. Win95 has caused me problems before.

The fastest way to clone the drive is directly attaching the second drive onto the drive controller for the first PC and doing a disk-to-disk transfer. The easiest way is to build a disk image and store it in a third location (another available partition or a file server) and then use Ghost on the second PC to clone the drive using this image. I've not seen any implementations of Ghost that would do an updated file-by-file cloning between two active systems to keep them in sync.

If you're not talking about a one-time update but want real-time synchronization, I think you'll have better luck looking into clustering software. You can run multiple systems with the same configuration, with any changes to one automagically copied to the others.
