Data analytic tool?

I am not sure what to call the type of software I need.

What I need is a tool that would sort/filter survey data. I've collected survey data on a spreadsheet and want to analyze it by sorting different combinations. What I want is similar to they are doing in the political field (female, age 20-30, income > 50k, pick this candidate ... etc.). So I want data on male at age range 50-60, it give the data for those fields.

Any idea?

Would the filter function on Excel help?

You could do various Excel queries too.

Excel can do this pretty easily by using pivot tables. Google pivot table excel.
