Did a dashcam prevent this driver from getting a ticket (or worse)?

Cop says he caught the driver doing 93mph. As soon as the driver tells the cop he has GPS that measures his speed the cop then starts to change his story.

Sad even a camera can't protect you from police, you now need GPS as well.

That and let the cop go under oath to swear by it. Then any time he goes to court give the person who got the ticket the information so their first question is "have you ever lied under oath..."?

So first he "caught" him at 93 then later "couldn't get my radar on fast enough".

Wow.

Yeah, sounds like he got a false reading from his radar because he didn't use it properly, then tried to cover it up. Wonder if it was a small-town cop because usually if they're not sure on the reading they don't bother.

Might be a good idea to actually watch the vid before posting, the cop admitted he "did not have time to use his radar".

Would have merely insisted I wasn't going that fast, taken the ticket then uploaded to youtube/alert the local media to a juicy story.

The rest takes care of itself.

Thread title is...weird?

or it's a fake video to advertise for the store selling the camera...

I've got to think there's a law about presenting something like this as real if it isn't. But it could be the case.

Yeah. I would've leaked it to the media even with the cop standing down as you know this is common practice and will continue if they don't get called out on it.

Hell the cop might even be a semi-decent person, willing to admit that he fucked up and drop it, but it just shows that actions like that are often systemic. Just because they put their lives on the line doesn't enable them to use any and all spurious reasons to do what they want.

Actually I would think twice about it as there's been too many cases where someone did something like that and then got harassed by the police.

I misunderstood- I thought he said he said something about not having time to get a good radar reading. I'm watching it on my phone and the audio isn't great.
