Copying here a linkylink i found interesting. It's a paper by a zoologist, an entomologist, a peptides chemist, and apparently, someone who is a environment researcher. More of a concept paper than anything, it discusses how alien life will almost inevitably have to share many similarities to humans life, down to having similar eyes, two sexes, and probably females being all bitchy n stuff.

it does leave out some bits about the search for life, which is for some scientists a search for an explanation to biogenesis, but for many other what is really exciting is the practical application of replicating whatever solutions new life forms might have developed to environmental challenges - i.e. some worm on mars secretes a substance that does something amazing. So, for some it is "how did they do it", and for others it's "what do they do".
